my grandpa was born 4 years before that war
I’m sure it’s still very present in both the UK and France. Here in Canada (in some circles) it’s still quite prevalent. My grandfather fought at both Vimy and Passchendaele. Can’t say whether or not he knew why he was fighting, but he did nonetheless.
One only needs an excuse to go to war, right?
